Kayak to Maori Carvings – Award Winning Adventure!

These Maori Rock Carvings are only accessible from the water. Sea Kayaking allows you to get up close to the carvings with plenty of time to study their details, learn their history & how they were carved, and also learn about their cultural significance. A unique New Zealand experience.

Stop for a break on the beach and enjoy some classic kiwi treats such as ANZAC cookies, slice and tea, coffee or Milo (kiwi style of hot chocolate) or an orange drink . In summer there is time for swimming, while in winter there is the opportunity to further explore Mine Bay before our return paddle home.

This trip is fully guided, no experience is needed to enjoy the Kayak to the Maori Carvings. We use double kayaks for safe, stable kayaking. A reasonable level of fitness is required.

Should the weather conditions be unsuitable we offer a superb alternative location and please note that this trip is best suited to people over eleven years of age.

The Mohaka Grade 3 Duckie trip will push you to the peak of adventure. If you are no longer excited about rafting anymore – been there, done that – looking for something different and wanting a bigger challenge, then this is for you.

You and a friend will share an inflatable kayak.
After some comprehensive instruction, you will follow your guide down a stunningly beautiful and exciting gorge.
